A Resolution Approving the Appointment of Robert J. O'Connor as Mayor Pro-Tem.
DISCUSSION:
Per Section 2-39 of Aurora's Municipal Code, "The City Council shall elect one of its members to act as Mayor Pro-Tem at the first meeting following the qualification of councilmembers after each municipal election."
The election process for Mayor Pro-Tem concluded Thursday, May 7, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. Aldermen Robert J. O'Connor was elected to serve as Mayor Pro-Tem for 2015 - 2017.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, per section 2-39 of the City of Aurora's Municipal Code, the City Council shall elect one of its members to serve as Mayor Pro-Tem; and
WHEREAS, the Aurora City Council voted and elected Robert J. O'Connor to serve as Mayor Pro-Tem.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, that Robert J. O'Connor is hereby appointed as Mayor Pro-Tem of the City Council.
