The YWCA is requesting permission to stage their annual Peace in the Park event on Saturday, October 4, 2014 from 11 am to 2 pm at Phillips Park.

PURPOSE:
Peace in the Park is part of the national YWCA "Week Without Violence" initiative. The event celebrates and promotes a safe and healthy community. Through partnerships with over 15 local agencies, they offer family-friendly activities and educational opportunities.
BACKGROUND:
This is the 7th year for this event and the organizers are expecting 400 to 500 to be in attendance. The event has been held in this location for several years.
DISCUSSION:
There are no direct City costs associated with this event. The organizers do receive City funds through the Neighborhood Festival Funding grant program.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
The YWCA will work with Dan Anderson from the Parks Department for any additional needs. Per the Special Event Permit there are no City services requested other than use of the area specified on the attached map.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
I request the proposed event be forwarded to the Government Operations Committee for approval.
