SUBJECT:title
A Traffic Study for a Pedestrian Crossing on Hoffman Blvd.  Ward 9, Alderman Bugg.
body
PURPOSE:
A Traffic Study for a Pedestrian Crossing on Hoffman Blvd at Shenandoah Blvd.

BACKGROUND:
A Resident submitted PS # 2012079 requesting a Pedestrian Cross-Walk on Hoffman Blvd at Shenandoah Blvd.

DISCUSSION:
There are no marked crosswalks or cross-walk signage at the intersection of Hoffman Blvd at Shenandoah Blvd.  There is one Stop sign on Hoffman Blvd. which "T"s into the through Shenandoah Blvd.   A paved bicycle path crosses Hoffman Blvd. from Lakewood Park on the West to a connecting path on the East which is paved for about 1,400-ft to the East, ending at Lindgren Ter.

A marked and cross-walk crosses Hoffman Blvd. at the intersection of Carlsbad Circle to the South, although it is more than 300-ft away.

While a marked crosswalk is appropriate, crosswalk signage would conflict with stop signage.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
Operations would be responsible for the installation of cross-walk markings.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends installing pavement markings only for multiuse path cross-walk across Hoffman Blvd.
