SUBJECT: title
A Traffic Study of the South side of Liberty St for the installation of Parking restriction signage at Johnson School. Ward 7, Alderman Hart-Burns
body
PURPOSE:
To determine the feasibility of installing Parking restriction signage on the South side of Liberty Street at Johnson School.
BACKGROUND:
A resident submitted an ACR Case ID 82467 expressing concern regarding temporary vehicle parking on the South side of Liberty Street during drop-off and pick-up of students from Johnson School. The resident suggested NO PARKING, STOPPING, OR STANDING signage along the South side of Liberty Street.
DISCUSSION:
The South side of Liberty Street in this area has a steep drop off into a ditch, not allowing vehicles to pull completely off the road. Stopping along the South side of Liberty Street appears to be impractical as it would impede traffic on Liberty Street in a 30 mph speed zone. It would also force children to cross Liberty Street during a very busy time of day.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
The implementation would involve installing Parking restriction signage along the South side of Liberty Street.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends approval of 'No Parking Any Time' signage within City limits.
