SUBJECT:title
A Parking Study for South Hampton Drive intersections. Ward 5, Alderman Franco.
body
PURPOSE:
A Parking Study for several South Hampton Drive intersections to determine the need for yellow curb and/or parking signage.
BACKGROUND:
A Resident submitted PS # 2354626 expressing concern about vehicles parking too close to intersections.
DISCUSSION:
Neither South Hampton Drive, South Hampton Court, nor Westgate Drive have any parking signage or yellow curb. All intersections are uncontrolled with no STOP or YIELD signage. All are residential roadways with 25 mph speed limit. Both have asphalt in good condition with curb and gutter, and sidewalks on both sides. All roadways are the standard 29.5-ft width. South Hampton Court ends in a "T" intersection with South Hampton Drive; but while the Court approach is straight, the Drive approach is in a 90-degree curve.
Staff has not been able to observe the parking issue presented by the resident. Per ordinance No Parking Here to Corner signage restrictions could be installed for the South Hampton Drive and Court intersections, as well as both South Hampton Drive and Westgate Drive "T" intersections, as brought by the resident.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Operations will be required to install recommended signage..
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends installation of No Parking Here to Corner signage on South Hampton Court approach to South Hampton Court.
