PURPOSE:

A Parking Study for Pearl Street in the 1300 block to determine the need for on-street parking restrictions.

BACKGROUND:

COP officers, who patrol the southern end of the 4th ward and Harbor Villages, are recommending the elimination of parking on either side of Pearl Street, from Sherman Avenue extending southward for 250 feet.  The recommendation is in the interest of neighborhood safety.

DISCUSSION:

Pearl Street is a residential roadway with a 25 mph speed limit.  It has a standard roadway width of 29.5-ft.  There is curb, gutter, and sidewalk on both sides.

The proposed parking restrictions are a public safety issue.

IMPACT STATEMENT:

Street Department resources for installing and maintaining signage

RECOMMENDATIONS:

Staff concurs with APD recommendation to sign the above described parking restriction.
