PURPOSE:
To determine the average speeds and traffic volumes on Parker Avenue between Elliott Avenue and Douglas Avenue to determine if traffic calming is warranted.

BACKGROUND:
A resident submitted a request to his Alderman expressing concern for traffic speeds on Parker Avenue between Elliott Avenue and Douglas Avenue.  The City of Aurora Engineering Division conducted speed and volume measurements on that portion of Parker Avenue.

DISCUSSION:
A Traffic Study was conducted, showing that the average ADT is about 500 vpd.  The Mean Speed is 21 mph, while the 85th percentile is an acceptable 25 mph.  Speed limit for the roadway is 25 mph.  Given the data found the area does not qualify for traffic calming based on speed and/or volume.
