PURPOSE:

A Parking Study for N. Randall Road in the 700-800 block to determine removing parking restrictions.

BACKGROUND:

A Resident from Randall West Apartments submitted ACR Case ID 136214 requesting the Overnight Parking Restrictions be removed from the residential frontage roadway of N. Randall Road.

NOTE:  The residential frontage road to the west of the main traffic-bearing N. Randall Road, is also called N. Randall Road (although sometimes referred to as Old Randall Road).   Many of the apartment complexes of the Randall West apartment complex also bear the N. Randall Road street name address, even though they have no direct access to Randall (please see LOCATION 16-00295 file).

DISCUSSION:

This Randall West Apartment area has been a concern for several years (13-00599).   The current parking demand for the Randall West Apartments exceeds existing parking availability.   Some restrictions have been put in place on the residential-frontage roadway of N. Randall Road portion across new Randall from the Randall West Apartments.   These were put in place due to traffic congestion and crossing safety.

While the apartment resident has a valid concern with limited available parking, staff will recommend denial at this time.   Any parking restriction changes will further exasperate the problems in this area.  Much of the signage for "NO PARKING 10pm-5am" was recently placed based on various issues in the area.

IMPACT STATEMENT:

Based on Staff recommendation no impact.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

 Staff recommends denial.
