SUBJECT: title
A Traffic Study for the Prairie St. and S. Evanslawn Ave. intersection regarding parking on Evanslawn. Wards 4 and 5, Aldermen Donnell and Peters.
body
PURPOSE:
To determine appropriateness of parking restrictions on S. Evanslawn Avenue stretching North from Prairie Street.
BACKGROUND:
A resident submitted ACR Case ID 80937 expressing concern of cars parking on S. Evanslawn Avenue close to Prairie Street. The caller suggested increasing the distance required for NO PARKING HERE TO CORNER signage.
DISCUSSION:
There is sufficient yellow curb to designate No Parking Here to Corner limits, although there is no signage. The yellow curbing is generally adhered to. Speed limit on Evanslawn is 25 mph. Street width is the standard 29.5-feet. The western side of S Evanslawn Ave has Yellow Curb stretching 80-feet north from the STOP bar at Prairie Street. The eastern side of S. Evanslawn Avenue has 30-feet of Yellow Curb. The university owns the properties on the east the side of this section and the homes on the west side are generally student rentals. We have no evidence of abnormal crash rates at this intersection due to existing parking conditions. Intersection visibility is adequate.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Staff recommends no action.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends denial.
