PURPOSE:
To Perform Traffic Study for a Request for a Stop Sign Installation on Sans Souci Drive at Featherock Drive
BACKGROUND:
An ACR request was submitted by Steve/Elizabeth Szabo for the possible installation of a stop sign on Sans Souci Drive at Featherock Drive. The requester expressed concerns over speed at the intersection.
DISCUSSION:
The Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices expressively states in section 2B.04 'yield or stop signs should not be used for speed control'. A review of the accidents at this intersection does not indicate a required mitigation due to crash history. Both roadways are residential with low volumes. A traffic counts indicated a 85% speed of 31 mph on San Souci Dr. Featherock Drive is a short entrance to drive and for the purpose of this traffic study was not investigated for speed.
