A Traffic Study for S. River Street in the 600 block. Ward 4, Alderman Donnell.
body
PURPOSE:
A Traffic Study for S. River Street in the 600 block to determine whether traffic calming measures on River Street would increase awareness of the crosswalk from the Hesed House to the Hesed House Resource Center.
BACKGROUND:
A Resident submitted ACR Case ID 132491 asking about possible additional measures to protect people crossing River Street near the Hesed House.
DISCUSSION:
The crosswalk from the Hesed House to the Hesed House Resource Center has permanent pavement markings. Crosswalk signage is in place. The west side of River Street across from 680 S. River St. has about 150 feet of yellow curb extending north from the crosswalk. Government Operations Committee Case ID 13-00685 recommended that NO PARKING ANY TIME signage be installed on west side of the roadway to enhance yellow curbing.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Operations will be required to install one No Parking Here to Corner sign.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends installation of one No Parking Here to Corner sign consistent with existing yellow curb on west side of River Street.
