SUBJECT:title
Parking Restriction for Streets near the Southwind Apartments. Ward 4, Alderman Donnell.
body
PURPOSE:
Parking Restriction, for streets near the Southwind Apartments, to reduce criminal activity.
BACKGROUND:
APD officers, who patrol the southern end of the 4th ward and Southwind Apartments, are recommending the elimination of parking on bordering streets, to reduce criminal activity.
DISCUSSION:
No parking restriction, on both sides of the street, would include:
Pearl Street (Sherman Avenue to Melrose Avenue)
Fourth Street (Sherman Avenue to Melrose Avenue)
Melrose Avenue (Fourth Street to two lots east of Pearl Street)
Alley-north of Melrose Avenue
Sherman Avenue (Pearl Street to three lots east of Pearl Street)
Fourth Street does have existing parking restriction signage, on the west side of the street, between Melrose Avenue and Sherman Avenue.
Alderman Donnell has discussed the above parking restrictions with the SouthHarbor neighborhood group, who concurred with the proposed restrictions.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Street Department resources for installing and maintaining signage.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff concurs with APD recommendation, to sign the above described parking restrictions. Could be accomplished using NO PARKING ANY TIME or NO PARKING THIS SIDE signage.
