A Resolution to Award the 2017 City Wide Sidewalk, Patching, Crack Filling and Bike Path Projects in the amount of $1,080,792.95 to Geneva Construction Company
PURPOSE:
To award the Construction Contract for various city projects.
BACKGROUND:
The city maintains nearly 600 miles of roadways that include sidewalks and bike paths. As part of the city's ongoing maintenance of roadways, the pavement, sidewalks and bike paths are evaluated for failures, deterioration and modifications to meet ADA requirements. The attached Sidewalk Removal and Replacement list (Exhibit 'A'), City Wide Patch list (Exhibit 'B'), Crack Sealing list (Exhibit 'C') and Bike Path list (Exhibit 'D') will be completed as part of this construction contract.
DISCUSSION:
Bids were opened and publicly read on April 26, 2017. The bid tabulation for the 2 bids received is attached as Exhibit 'E'. The lowest responsible bid was submitted by Geneva Construction Company of Aurora, IL in the amount of $1,080,792.95 which is nearly 9% less than the Engineer's Cost Estimate. Geneva Construction is IDOT Certified and has previously completed various roadway projects for the City of Aurora including city wide sidewalk and patching projects. We recommend awarding the 2017 City Wide Sidewalk, Patching, Crack Filling and Bike Path Projects to Geneva Construction for the unit prices submitted.
Included with this bid package are 2 ward projects noted as Brookside Lane & Court - Ward 10 and McCoy Drive sidewalk widening - Ward 8.
The 2017 City Budget provides $360,000 in account no. 340-4460-431-38-61 (CapA), $670,792.95 in account 340-4460-431-73-91 (CapA), $20,000 in account 318-4460-431-38-55 (Ward 8) and $30,000 in account 320-4460-431-38-55 (Ward 10).
