A Parking Study for W. Downer Place in the 400 block. Ward 4, Alderman Donnell.
body
PURPOSE:
A Parking Study for W. Downer Place in the 400 block to weigh Handicap parking restrictions in front of 450-460 W. Downer Place.
BACKGROUND:
The Association Treasurer for the common areas shared with 450 and 460 W. Downer Place submitted an E-mail (7/6/2015) requesting two permanent Handicap Parking in front of the facility.
DISCUSSION:
The facility has indoor parking for its residents. Parking is available on W. Downer Place, and there is additional street parking available on S. View Street.
Staff did place handicap parking on street for a temporary measure while the indoor resident parking access was being redone. It was utilized by the residence who now have access to the indoor parking parking once again.
There is no evidence that the Handicap Parking is essential. The area is well parked due to restrictions of parking closer to View Street.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
No action per recommendation.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends denial.
