BACKGROUND:
For several years up to 2012, the American Diabetes Association bike routes would come through the City of Aurora by crossing over the Illinois Avenue Bridge. Beginning in 2013 and up to 2015, the Tour de Cure base of operations were located at the Aurora transportation Center and Two Brothers Roundhouse. Bike riders began and ended at this location and other activities were held. 1500 people participated in 2015.

DISCUSSION:
The American Diabetes Association is proposing to use River Edge Park as the base of its operations for the 2016 Tour de Cure bike rides and other planned activities for this event. The organizers are expecting 2000 people to participate and 350 staff/volunteers to help with the event. Due to planned construction on Broadway, the routes for the 65 and 100 mile rides will be directed around Broadway using other streets. The American Diabetes Association is responsible for contacting downtown services directly for any parking considerations in the lot parking lot at the Transportation Center. The American Diabetes Association is responsible for all costs associated with this event.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
Services will be needed from the Aurora Police Department Traffic Control Division and Downtown Services Division for Transportation Center parking lot.
