SUBJECT:title
A Traffic Study for the N. Ohio Street and Mountain Street intersection. Ward 1, Alderman Bohman.
body
PURPOSE:
A Traffic Study for the N. Ohio Street and Mountain Street intersection to determine the need for all way Stop signage.
BACKGROUND:
A Resident submitted PS # 2232777 requesting all way Stop signage at the N. Ohio Street and Mountain Street intersection.
DISCUSSION:
Mountain Street is classified as a residential roadway. N. Ohio Street is classified as a Major Collector roadway. Mountain Street has curb, gutter, and sidewalk, while N. Ohio Street only has sidewalk on the west side. The intersection has a single Stop sign on Mountain Street.
Based on the traffic study, traffic volumes on Mountain Street do not warrant the installation of all way stop signage. Traffic volumes on the Mountain Street approach are just under 1,000 veh/day. The peak hour on Mountain Street never once reached a measured 50 veh/hr, way too low to justify an all way Stop. MUTCD guidelines were not met for installation of an all way stop.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
No action at this time.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends acceptance of traffic study.
