A Traffic Study for Oak and Lawndale Avenues. Ward 6, Alderman Saville.
body
PURPOSE:
A Traffic Study to investigate replacing the YIELD signage at the intersection of Oak and Lawndale Avenues with two-way STOP signage.
BACKGROUND:
A Resident submitted ACR Case ID 103129 requesting that the YIELD signage at the intersection of Oak and Lawndale Avenues with two-way STOP signage.
DISCUSSION:
The intersection presently has YIELD signage on Lawndale Avenue approaching Oak Avenue. Both roadways are Residential, with the city standard speed limit of 25 mph. All four approaches have good visibility with no major line of site obstructions. Roadways are the standard city width, and Lawndale Avenue is freshly paved. Stop signage is larger than the Yield signs used by the city, and therefore the Stop signs are more noticeable.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Operations will make the change of signage.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends replacing Yield signage with two-way Stop signage.
