SUBJECT:title

A Parking Study for N. Westlawn Avenue in the 500 block.  Ward 5, Alderman Franco.

body

PURPOSE:

To determine the need for the establishment of parking restrictions on N. Westlawn Avenue in the 500 block near Plum Street.

BACKGROUND:

A Resident submitted ACR Case ID 136532 expressing concern that the south end of N. Westlawn Avenue near Plum Street had too many vehicles parking on N. Westlawn Avenue overnight.

DISCUSSION:

The N. Westlawn Avenue roadway is Residential with a standard 25 mph speed limit.  The roadway measures the standard 29.5-ft width.  The roadway does not have parking restrictions.  The road surface and curbs are in good condition.  The intersection of N. Westlawn Avenue and Plum Street is uncontrolled, with no STOP or YIELD signage.

IMPACT STATEMENT:

Operations will be responsible to install appropriate signage and curb painting.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

Staff recommends standard 'No Parking Here to corner' signage 30 feet from intersection and 5-foot driveway curb painting on first block of Westlawn north from Plum Street.
