PURPOSE:
The ADA is requesting permission to conduct a bike ride fundraiser to promote prevention and fight diabetes.
 
BACKGROUND:
The first year of the event was in 2013 and approximately 1,000 people participated.  The event organizers are expecting 1,300 participants in 2014 and 350 staff/volunteers.  The bike ride has five different routes: 10, 20, 35, 65, and 100 miles.  Each will begin/end at the Two Brothers Roundhouse.  Event set-up is proposed from 12am-5am and take-down from 4pm to 7pm.
 
DISCUSSION:
The event organizers are responsible for all costs associated with holding this event.
 
IMPACT STATEMENT:
The event organizers are requesting Aurora Police Department Traffic Division services, Aurora Fire Department Paramedic services, and approval from MVPS/Downtown Services to park at the Aurora Transportation Center, and set up tents in the bus stop area.
 
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Please forward to the Government Operations Committee for review and approval.
