West Aurora High School Homecoming Parade Held on Streets Near the High School on Thursday October 1, 2015 from 2:00pm to 4:30pm.

PURPOSE:

The purpose of the parade is it is held as part of the school homecoming celebration and festivities.

 

BACKGROUND:

The homecoming parade has been held at least for the past 13 years.  The school is projecting that 400-500 people will be in attendance and that 30-40 personnel/volunteers will be helping.  Set up time will begin at 2:00pm with the actual start of the parade at 3:00pm.  The parade is scheduled to end at 4:00pm and breakdown occurring from 4:00pm to 4:30pm.

 

DISCUSSION:

West Aurora High School and its PTSO is responsible for all costs associated with holding the proposed event.

 

IMPACT STATEMENT:

Services will be needed from the Aurora Police Department's Traffic Control Division and the Streets Maintenance Division for providing barricades and placement of no parking signs.

 

RECOMMENDATIONS:

 Please forward to the Government Operations Committee for approval.
