SUBJECT:title
A Traffic Study for Summerlin Drive. Ward 9, Alderman Bugg.
body
PURPOSE:
To study the options for traffic calming near/at the intersection of Summerlin Drive and Dunnhill Lane.
BACKGROUND:
A resident submitted PS # 1882878 requesting a traffic study be performed again at the intersection of Summerlin Drive and Dunnhill Lane. Presently, there is an All-Way Stop sign less than 250-ft to the east at the intersection of Summerlin Drive and Grantham Lane. The intersection of Summerlin Drive and Dunnhill Lane has no Stop signage. Summerlin Park is divided from the Summerlin Subdivision by Summerlin Drive.
DISCUSSION:
Based on the traffic study, neither the traffic volumes nor crash history warrant the installation of an all-way stop. Traffic volumes on Summerlin Drive have remained steady for the past two years at 650 veh/day, with the peak hour only twice exceeding 40 veh/hr. The Manual of Uniform Traffic Control recommends approximately five times the shown peak hour volume before consideration of an all way stop. Coupled with adjacent stop controlled an all way stop is not recommended.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
No impact based on staff recommendation.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends denial.
