American Cancer Society Bark for Life Walk, Sunday May 18, 2014 from 9:00am to 1:00pm.

PURPOSE:
The American Cancer Society is requesting permission to conduct a Bark for Life Walk at Phillips Park as a fundraiser to support the mission of the American Cancer Society.
BACKGROUND:
The first year of the event was held in 2013 and had 45 participants. The base of operations was at the pavilion off of Parker Avenue. In this second year of this proposed event in 2014, the organizers are expecting to attract 50 participants, utilize 15 volunteers, and use the main pavilion as the base of operations.
DISCUSSION:
The organizers are responsible for all costs associated with holding this proposed event.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
The event organizers are requesting the following services from Parks & Recreation: use of the main pavilion and trail around Mastodon Lake, parking, and allowance of entertainment in the form of a DJ, face painting, and canine demonstrations. The event organizers are requesting cardboard trash bins from Streets Maintenance.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Please forward to the Government Operations Committee for consideration.
