A Parking Study for the 500 block of Clark Street. Ward 2, Alderman Garza.
body
PURPOSE:
A Parking Study for the installation of a Handicap parking space at 511 Clark Street.
BACKGROUND:
A Resident at 511 Clark Street submitted PS # 2546648 requesting the installation of an in-street Handicap parking space in front of his apartment house.
DISCUSSION:
511 Clark Street has parking available only on the south side. The roadway is a neighborhood residential, with a 25mph speed limit. Roadway width is narrow at just over 25-ft. The front entrance of the apartment house has four steps, without a handicap ramp. Aside from room for one proper parking spaces on the front curb, parking is available in a two-lane driveway with a dual garage. Additional street parking may be available to the west on a first come first served basis.
This particular case falls into one of the three criteria for approving on-street residential handicap spaces. This is a multi-unit residence with limited onsite parking that would require the tenant to reach out to other tenants not in unit to access vehicle
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Operation will be required to install approved signage.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends approval of handicap parking installation in front of 511 Clark Street.
