SUBJECT:title
A Traffic Study for Sunnymere parking signage in front of the two exit/entrances at 925 Sixth Avenue.  Ward 3; Alderman Mesiacos
body
PURPOSE:
To determine the need for NO PARKING signage in front of 925 Sixth Avenue.

BACKGROUND:
A resident sent an E-mail to the City expressing concern about parking signage in front of Sunnymere, at 925 Sixth Avenue.  They stressed that traffic exiting Sunnymere has a poor line-of-site on Sixth Avenue, forcing exiting cars "to pull forward quite far to see if there are any on-coming vehicles."

DISCUSSION:
An inspection revealed that there are no restrictions for parking in front of Sunnymere, not by signage or yellow curb.  The complaint of poor line-of-site would appear to be valid, especially if a large van is parked next to the exit.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
The installation would require funding for the Sign Department.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends installing Yellow Curb and NO PARKING HERE TO CORNER for a distance to be determined from each exit/entrance, weather permitting.
