SUBJECT:
Resolution Approving the Contract Addendum with Texas Inmate Phone Systems (TIP Systems LLC) for inmate phone service in the Aurora City Jail.

PURPOSE:
Achieve continued inmate phone service in the Aurora City Jail with TIP Systems LLC.

BACKGROUND:
In December 2011, the City entered into to a contract with TIP Systems LLC to provide inmate phone service in the Aurora City Jail. The current contract will expire in December 2016. The Aurora Police Department has been satisfied with the service provided by TIP Systems.

DISCUSSION:
The attached addendum by TIP Systems provides for an extension of the current contract for the next three years (2017, 2018, 2019), with an optional extension, to be exercised solely in the discretion of the City, for two (2) additional years (2020 and 2021). There is no cost to the City of Aurora as all services provided by TIP Systems are paid for by persons utilizing the inmate phone system.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
This is a continuation of services provided by TIP Systems at no cost to the City or general public. There is no impact to the Police department or other City departments. .

RECOMMENDATIONS:
I request that the Finance Committee and the City Council approve the attached addendum for continued inmate phone service to the Aurora City Jail.
