DATE:      December 2, 2013

SUBJECT: title
Resolution Establishing the Maximum Number of City of Aurora Liquor Licenses by Class
body
PURPOSE:
To increase the number of Class E-Restaurant Liquor Licenses by one (1) license, increasing the total maximum number of Class E license to 51.

BACKGROUND:
This request is presented in accordance with the 2011 amendment to the City's Liquor Ordinance, specifically Section 6-9(a) which charges the City Council with the authority to determine the number of licenses available in each classification.

DISCUSSION:
Khas, LLC d/b/a Khas Indian Restaurant, 4448 E. New York St, Aurora, Illinois, submitted a liquor license application seeking a Class E license for the purpose of being able to sell alcoholic liquor to its patrons for consumption on the aforementioned premises.

Attached is the application submitted for your consideration.  If approved, this resolution would increase the number of allowable liquor licenses as indicated in the accompanying Exhibit A to allow for the issuance of the license by the Commissioner.  City staff has been working with Khas' representatives to ensure that all requirements for a liquor license, as set forth in Chapter 6 of the City's Code of Ordinances, are met.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
The proposed resolution presents an opportunity to further the City of Aurora's economic development.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
I am recommending that this resolution be referred to the Government Operations Committee for consideration at its next meeting to be held on December 10, 2013 with referral by the Government Operations Committee to the Joint Session of COW/City Council to be held on Dec. 17, 2013.
