SUBJECT:
Resolution to approve the purchase of a 2015 Ford Expedition for the Aurora Fire Department from Landmark Ford for $28,980.00
PURPOSE:
The purchase of a new 2015 Ford Expedition will provide the Fire Department with a reliable vehicle.
BACKGROUND:
The Aurora Fire Department has requested to replace unit 33-813 which is a 2000 Ford Expedition and it exceeds the 10 year replacement criteria for a SUV (Davis.pdf). I do concur with this request due to the cost of repairs to keep this unit in working order.
DISCUSSION:
The City of Aurora participates in the Suburban Purchasing Cooperative Joint Purchasing Program. This program solicits bids from area automotive dealers so that its members get the economy of scale in terms of pricing. Contract 117 (SPC.pdf) for the Ford Expedition was awarded to Landmark Ford. The Ford Expedition requested by the Fire Department is a standard packaged model with only a few options (Landmark.pdf).
In account 255-3033-422-6610 there is a balance of $33,000 to fund this purchase if approved
IMPACT STATEMENT:
The purchase of a new Expedition will provide the Aurora Fire Department with a reliable vehicle for at least another 10 years
RECOMMENDATIONS:
I request approval to the purchase a 2015 Ford Expedition for the Aurora Fire Department from Landmark Ford for $28,980.00"
