Ordinance Authorizing the Sale of the Northerly Thirty Feet (30') of City Real Estate (Lot 24) Located at 1127 Talma Street, Aurora, Illinois Permanent Index No.: 15-34-178-019.
PURPOSE:
Attached is an Ordinance Authorizing the Sale of the northerly thirty feet (30") of City Owned Real Estate (Lot 24) commonly known as 1127 Talma Street, with PIN# 15-34-178-019 to Stacy L. Meeks, who owns the property directly north of the area to be sold. Under the terms of the proposed sale, Meeks will pay the City One Dollar ($1.00) and consolidate the land with her current parcel. This sale only includes the northerly thirty feet (30') of the said property PIN #15-34-178-019. The City will be transferring the southerly twenty feet (20') (Lot 24) at a later date to be consolidated with 1129 Talma Street, Aurora, Illinois.
BACKGROUND:
In October 2011 the City of Aurora acquired the property at 1127 Talma Street, Aurora, Illinois through a Judge's Deed through legal action initiated by the City of Aurora. Demolition of the structure(s) at 1127 Talma Street, Aurora, Illinois were completed in 2011. The property is exempt from real estate taxes. The lot is to be split and given to the adjoining land owner as legally described below:
THE NORTHERLY THIRTY FEET OF LOT 24 IN BLOCK 13 OF H.H. EVANS 5th ADDITION TO AURORA, IN THE CITY OF AURORA, KANE COUNTY, ILLINOIS
DISCUSSION:
The City has made this type of arrangement before with adjacent owners in order to dispose of vacant City-owned lots
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Vacant lot back on tax rolls. City will no longer have to maintain this vacant lot.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Place on Finance Committee Calendar (07/12/16 Agenda) for approval to City Council.
