A Parking Study for Colonial Street in the 2000 to 2100 block. Ward 9, Alderman Bugg.
body
PURPOSE:
A Parking Study for Colonial Street in the 2000 to 2100 block to determine the warrants for installing NO PARKING THIS SIDE to one side of Colonial Street.
BACKGROUND:
A Resident submitted ACR Case ID 127835 requesting that parking be restricted on their street with NO PARKING THIS SIDE signage.
DISCUSSION:
There are no parking restrictions in place for the above stretch of roadway. It is narrower than city standard and ordinance at only 27-ft. in width. With vehicles parked on both sides of Colonial Street, there is only room for one car to pass at a time. The Speed Limit on Colonial Street is the standard for Residential streets: 25 mph. Given these conditions, restricting parking to just one side of Colonial Street would help improve traffic flow. Prohibiting parking on both sides would also improve traffic flow.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Operations would be responsible for installing the parking restriction signage.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends installing No Parking this Side signs on the driveway side.
