SUBJECT:
Approving a Music Festival for the Aurora Veterans Advisory Council during their "Vets Week Car Show" event on May 21st, 2016, to be held at 309 N. River Street (Lot W).
PURPOSE:
The Aurora Veterans Advisory Council, will be holding their "Vets Week Car Show" event on Saturday, May 21, 2016. As part of this festival, the Aurora Veterans Advisory Council would like to have live musical entertainment, which requires City Council approval prior to the issuance of a permit.
BACKGROUND:
The event includes live entertainment, face painting, various vendors, and a picnic.
DISCUSSION:
The City of Aurora will be providing a certificate of insurance for the event as part of their Festival Funding contribution.
City Staff will work closely with them to ensure additional requirements are met

I request that this item be referred to the Government Operations Committee for a recommendation to approve.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
