SUBJECT:title
A Traffic Study for the Talma Street & Simms Street intersection. Ward 3, Alderman Mesiacos
body
PURPOSE:
A Traffic Study to determine the possibility of installing four-way STOP signage at the intersection of Talma Street & Simms Street.
BACKGROUND:
A Resident submitted ACR Case ID 102353 requesting a four-way STOP be installed at the intersection of Talma Street & Simms Street. Resident requests STOP signage to slow traffic down.
DISCUSSION:
STOP signage is not to be used to control speeds, according to specific regulations in the MUTCD (Municipal Uniform Code of Traffic Control Devices) issued as adopted by the City of Aurora. With that said, existing conditions do not warrant an all way stop based on volumes, pedestrians, or crash history.
It should be noted that Talma already stops at Simms and Simms stops one block east at Jackson and one block west at 5th Street.
Based on the traffic study, the roadway does not meet the minimum qualifications for traffic calming.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
No impact based on Recommendations.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff Recommends denial.
