PURPOSE:
Wayside Cross Ministries is requesting permission to conduct a walk on the sidewalks along the route submitted, to promote awareness of homelessness and raise money for the Life Spring and Urban Youth Ministries.

BACKGROUND:
This is the ninth year the organizers are planning to hold this event.  For the first 7 years, the event base was at 501 College Avenue, now it is the John Harkness Center and parking lot at First Presbyterian Church.

DISCUSSION:
The organizers are responsible for all associated costs and are expecting 200 participants and 20 volunteers to help with the event.  They are planning to start the walk by exiting the First Presbyterian Church parking lot and go west on Downer Place to Lincoln Ave., north on Lincoln Ave. to Spring St., east on Spring St. to Root St., South on Root St., to Downer Place, and West on Downer Place back to starting location.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
The participants will use sidewalks and abide by normal pedestrian rules, following stop signs and stop light street crossing safety procedures.  APD Traffic Division assistance will not be needed and there will not be any street closures or need for barricades from the Street Maintenance Division.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
Please forward to the Government Operations Committee for review/approval.
