SUBJECT:title
A Traffic Study for Liberty Street west of the railroad tracks Ward 10, Alderman Johnson
body
PURPOSE:
To determine possibility of installing DO NOT BLOCK DRIVEWAY signage for the business located at 3401 E. Liberty Street.

BACKGROUND:
The access driveway for this industrial address of 3401 E. Liberty Street is often blocked by traffic waiting for trains to pass at the CN railway crossing to the east. Truck traffic leaving the industrial site may be delayed from 15-minutes to more than 30-minutes, depending on the speed of the train.

DISCUSSION:
Do not block driveway signs have limited effectiveness and generally are difficult to enforcement.  With that said, staff believes the installation is warranted.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
Operations Department will be required to install sign.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends placing DO NOT BLOCK DRIVEWAY signage for eastbound traffic at the driveway located at 3401 E. Liberty Street.
