A Traffic Study for Sheridan Street in the 750 block. Ward 1, Alderman Bohman.
body
PURPOSE:
A Traffic Study for Sheridan Street in the 750 block to determine traffic speeds and volumes.
BACKGROUND:
A Resident submitted ACR Case ID 147343 expressing concerns for speeds on Sheridan Street in the 750 block.
DISCUSSION:
Sheridan Street is a residential neighborhood roadway with a 25 mph speed limit. Both sides have curb, gutter and sidewalks. Road width is a narrow 24-ft.
Traffic counters on Sheridan Street revealed an ADT of 4,050 VPD. Speeds were found to be average 26 mph, with a 85th percentile of 30 mph and a median of 26 mph.
Based on Traffic Calming Policy, this segment of roadway does qualify for traffic calming under the current policy. However, the 85th percentile is right at the threshold. Traffic calming would not be recommended in this are.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
No impact at this time.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends acceptance of traffic study.
