Ordinance authorizing the sale of the southerly twenty-five feet of City Real Estate (LOT 21) (except the north 25 feet thereof) Located at 270 North Calhoun Street, Aurora, Illinois, Permanent Index No.: Part of 15-23-428-020
PURPOSE:
Attached is an Ordinance authorizing the sale of the southerly twenty-five feet (25') of City real estate, Lot 21, except the north twenty-five feet (25') thereof, commonly known as 270 North Calhoun Street, with PIN 15-23-428-020, to Timothy L. Sitar and Yolanda P. Sitar, who own the property directly south of the area to be sold (266 N. Calhoun Street). Under the terms of the proposed sale, Sitar(s) will pay the City one dollar ($1.00) and consolidate the land with their current parcel. This sale only includes the southerly twenty-five feet (25') of said property PIN #15-23-428-020. It is recommended the City transfer the northerly twenty-five feet (25') of Lot 21 concurrently, to Henry Aguirre and Yolanda Aguirre, to be consolidated with 1317 Liberty Street, Aurora, Illinois.
BACKGROUND:
In October 2014 the City of Aurora approved the donation agreement for property at 270 North Calhoun Street, Aurora, Illinois from Jeanette Edwards following a repair or demolition action pursuant to 11-31-1 of the Illinois Municipal Code. The structures on the property are raised. The property is currently exempt from real estate taxes. The lot is to be split and given to the adjoining land owner (Sitar) as legally described below:
THE SOUTHERLY TWENTY- FIVE FEET (25') OF LOT 21 (EXCEPT THE NORTH TWENTY-FIVE FEET THEREOF) IN BLOCK 2 OF FOREST PARK ADDITION, IN THE CITY OF AURORA, KANE COUNTY, ILLINOIS
DISCUSSION:
The City has made this type of arrangement before with adjacent owners in order to dispose of vacant City-owned lots.
