SUBJECT:
Resolution Establishing the Maximum Number of City of Aurora Liquor Licenses by Class.

PURPOSE:
To increase the number of Class E-1 - Limited Menu Restaurant licenses by one (1) license, increasing the total maximum number of Class E-1 to 1.

BACKGROUND:
This request is presented in accordance with the 2011 amendment to the City's Liquor Ordinance, specifically Section 6-9(a), which charges the City Council with the authority to determine the number of licenses available in each classification.

DISCUSSION:
The Karademas Hospitality LLC- Leland Sky club Series d/b/a Leland Sky Club, located at 7 South Stolp Avenue, Aurora, Illinois, 60506 submitted a liquor license application seeking a Class E-1 license for the purpose of selling to the general public alcoholic liquor by the drink for consumption on the premises where sold, and not for resale in any form, provided that such sales shall be only in conjunction with the sale of food for consumption on the premises.

Leland Sky Club is a new establishment that will assume operations at the location in Spring 2016, and has therefore applied for a new liquor license as per our city code.

Attached is the application submitted for your consideration. If approved, this resolution would increase the number of allowable liquor licenses as indicated in the accompanying Exhibit A to allow for the issuance of the license by the Commissioner. City staff has been working with the business owner to ensure that all requirements for a liquor license, as set forth in Chapter 6 of the City's Code of Ordinances, are met.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
The proposed resolution presents an opportunity to further the City of Aurora's economic development.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
I am recommending that this resolution be referred to the Government Operations Committee for consideration at its meeting to be held on March 8, 201...
