TO: Mayor Thomas J. Weisner

FROM: Raymond Hull, Superintendent of Water and Sewer Maintenance

DATE: January 14, 2014

SUBJECT:
A Resolution to Accept the Parts and Material Quotations for the Water and Sewer Maintenance Division.

PURPOSE:
The Water and Sewer Division is responsible for the repair, maintenance and limited replacement of the existing water and sewer mains. Likewise we are also responsible for the appurtenances such as fire hydrants, service leads, and catch basins.

BACKGROUND:
Price quotes are solicited on an annual basis for the supplies and parts utilized for the daily maintenance and repair of the infrastructure. We received quotations from six suppliers for the 136 line items.

DISCUSSION:
Supplies that are in stock are purchased from the lowest responsible bidders. Funds have been allocated in account 510-4063-511.65-60 of the 2014 City of Aurora budget to purchase the needed parts and materials.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
The purchased material and parts are the essential components which allow our maintenance division to maintain a high level of service.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is my recommendation that the supplier quotations for material and parts be forwarded to the Finance committee for the January 28, 2014 meeting.
