A Traffic Study for Barrington Drive East in the 2200 block. Ward 9, Alderman Bugg.
body
PURPOSE:
A Traffic Study for Barrington Drive East in the 2200 block near Lansdale Street to determine actual speeds and traffic volumes.
BACKGROUND:
A Resident submitted ACR Case ID 134386 expressing concern of possible speeding on Barrington Drive East.
DISCUSSION:
Barrington Drive East is classified as a Minor Collector, but has a posted 25 mph speed limit. Barrington Drive East has sidewalk on the west side and a 10-ft wide asphalt path on the east. Both sides have curb and gutter. Roadway surface is in good condition.
Traffic counters on Barrington Drive East revealed an ADT of 1,900 VPD. Speeds were found to be average 31 mph, with a 85th percentile of 35 mph and a median of 31 mph.
The roadway segment does qualify for traffic calming under traffic calming policy. However, due to collector status speed humps /tables would not be recommended due to emergency vehicle response concerns.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
No impact at this time.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends acceptance of traffic study.
