PURPOSE:

A Traffic Study for Old Indian Trail in the 600-900 Blocks to determine Traffic Counts and Speeds. 

 

BACKGROUND:

A Resident submitted ACR Case ID 141266 complaining that their mailbox on Old Indian Trail had been hit several times. 

 

DISCUSSION:

Old Indian Trail is classified as a Minor Collector, but has a 25 mph speed limit.  The roadway has no sidewalk on either side, nor any curb and gutter.  There is a dashed yellow centerline.  Traffic counters on Old Indian Trail revealed an ADT of 3,600 VPD.  Speeds were found to be average 31 mph, with a 85th percentile of 36 mph and a median of 31 mph. 

 

A Traffic Study on Old Indian Trail taken 10 years ago revealed an ADT of 4,000 VPD.  Speeds back then were also found to be an average 31 mph, with a 85th percentile of 36 mph and a median of 31 mph.

 

This section of roadway does qualify for traffic calming based on Traffic Calming Policy

 

IMPACT STATEMENT:

No impact at this time. 

 

RECOMMENDATIONS:

 Staff recommends acceptance of traffic study.
