SUBJECT: title
Resolution authorizing the purchase of two (2) E-One 1500 Gallon per Minute Fire Engines from Fire Service Inc., Saint John, Indiana in the amount of $803.874.00 for the Aurora Fire Department.
body
PURPOSE:
To purchase Two (2) E-One brand 1500 gallon per minute fire engines which will replace Two 14 year old front line fire engines

BACKGROUND:
Equipment Services has recommended that front line Fire Department engines get moved to reserve status when they are 13 years old. This practice allows former front line engines to be used as reserve vehicles that are reliable enough to be of service when the front line vehicles are in the shop for maintenance and repairs. The existing engines will each respectively replace a reserve engine that will be twenty-three (23) and eighteen (18) years old in 2014
DISCUSSION:
Fire Service Inc., the dealer for the E-One brand fire apparatus utilized by the Fire Department, was awarded the winning bid for two (2) fire engines in 2012 and one (1) fire engine in 2013. When awarded the winning bid, the dealer included a price extension in the purchasing contract that would hold the cost of any fire engine purchases for up to three (3) years with the exception of increases related to the Producer's Price Index or any regulatory changes. The dealer has determined the increased cost per vehicle is $12.329.00. Funds from account number 255-3033-422.75-10 are available for this purchase in the 2014 budget.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
This purchase will follow the Equipment services department recommendations to maintain the fire department fleet

RECOMMENDATIONS:
That the Finance Committee authorize the Fire Department to purchase two (2) E-One brand 1500 gallon per minute fire engines from Fire Service Inc. of
Saint John, In. for $803,874.00.
