SUBJECT:title
Recommendation to solicit bids for the design and construction of a new airport entrance sign.
body

PURPOSE:
The purpose is to solicit bids from qualified businesses for competitively priced designs and the ultimate construction of an Aurora Municipal Airport entrance sign.)

BACKGROUND:
The existing entrance sign is dated and requires repairs. It is no longer representative of the greatly expanded mix of corporate and general aviation businesses and clientele. The Aurora Airport Advisory Board considers the replacement of the sign a priority. The current and damaged sign might have been appropriate in the 60s and 70s but it no longer fits with the professional atmosphere of the airport's business environment.

DISCUSSION:
The Airport Administration needs approval to for the City's Purchasing Director to authorize a bidding and design process. Should the Committee authorize the bidding process donated and approved funds would be deposited into 504-1810-433-38-42.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
Acquiring a new sign would meet one of the Airport Board's primary goals and it would assist with efforts to more professionally brand and market the airport.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
Finance Committee approval to solicit bids for a new airport entrance sign."
