A Traffic Study for the southern end of S. Commons Drive. Ward 8, Alderman Mervine.
body
PURPOSE:
A Traffic Study for the southern end of S. Commons Drive to investigate speeding and traffic volumes.
BACKGROUND:
A Resident submitted PS # 1831188 expressing concern regarding traffic at the southern end of S. Commons Drive.
DISCUSSION:
This isolated location has no drive approaches. There is curb-gutter and sidewalk on the west side only. S. Commons Drive ends with a narrow private roadway heading east. Commons is only 18.8-ft in width here. The south area was in clean condition, with only two empty water bottles as litter.
Traffic counters on S. Commons Drive revealed an ADT of 175 VPD. Speeds were found to be average 29 mph, with a 85th percentile of 34 mph and a median of 30 mph.
Based on Traffic Calming Policy, this segment of roadway is not a strong candidate for traffic calming.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
No impact at this time.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends acceptance of the Traffic Study.
