SUBJECT:title
A Parking Study for Claim Street in the 800 block. Ward 2, Alderman Garza.
body
PURPOSE:
To perform a Parking Study for Claim Street near the N. East Avenue intersection.
BACKGROUND:
A Resident submitted ACR Case ID 140017 requesting a Parking Study.
DISCUSSION:
The intersection has a one-way STOP sign on N. East Avenue approaching Claim Street. There is a Street Light on the southwest corner utility pole. Claim Street has a dashed Yellow centerline. Claim Street is 29.5-ft in width. The north side allows parking, while the south side is signed NO PARKING ANY TIME, although some of the south side signs appear to be missing. Speed Limit on the Major Collector of Claim Street is 30 mph. Claim Street does have yellow curbing on both approaches
Recent traffic studies show that Claim Street has an ADT of 4,350 vpd. The Mean (or Average) Speed on Claim Street is 24 mph with a Median Speed of 24 mph, and an 85th Percentile Speed of 28 mph.
Because the intersection is serviced by a standard street light on the south west corner utility pole, standard lighting would appear to be achieved or surpassed.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
No impact at this time.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends denial.
