SUBJECT:
A Resolution authorizing the Director of Purchasing to award a contract to Geneva Construction Company in the amount of $3,157,899.95 for the remaining site work associated with the new Public Works Combined Maintenance Facility.

PURPOSE:
To award a contract for the remaining site work ("Phase 2") at the new facility in the amount of $3,157,899.96 to Geneva Construction Company, PO Box 998, Aurora, IL.

BACKGROUND:
The Public Works Department is consolidating the personnel and equipment from a handful of maintenance divisions (Electrical, Streets, Fleet, Water & Sewer, and Water Meter Maintenance) into a new, combined maintenance facility on a 25.4-acre city-owned parcel near Liberty and New York Streets.

In September of 2022, the City awarded a contract to Berger Excavating Contractors for Phase 1 of the sitework at this parcel, which included mass grading, onsite utilities, aggregate base, curb, and binder asphalt on the central entrance road and west yard, most of the site fencing, and a new salt storage dome.

Construction of the main building is ongoing and is anticipated to be completed by the end of 2024 or shortly thereafter. With the building shell (exterior walls and windows) complete, the City is looking to award a contract for the remaining sitework ("Phase 2"), which includes aggregate base, curb, and binder asphalt east of the central entrance road (around the main building and fueling station, which is to be constructed concurrently), asphalt surface course pavement throughout the entire site, and a handful of other tasks required to complete the site work (such as site walls, select fencing/gates, fine grading, utility connections, sidewalk, etc.).

DISCUSSION:
