PURPOSE:
Fox Valley Marathon/ShebBix Inc. is requesting approval to hold part of the Advocate Dreyer Fox Valley Marathon in Aurora to promote fitness, the Fox Valley area, businesses, and charities.
BACKGROUND:
This is the 5th year that Fox Valley Marathon/ShebBix Inc. is proposing to hold the planned event. The event begins in St. Charles runs along the Fox River through all of the communities in between to Aurora and turns around and heads back to and ends in St. Charles.
DISCUSSION:
Fox Valley Marathon/ShebBix Inc. is responsible for all costs associated with holding this proposed event. 1900 people are expected to participate and 25 staff/volunteers will be helping with the activities.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Aurora Police Department Traffic Control Division will be needed to provide street crossing safety services on Illinois Avenue at the west trail crossing.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Please forward to Government Operations Committee for approval.
