SUBJECT: title
A Traffic Study to determine the appropriateness of prohibiting the five existing parking spaces on the West side of Union from Galena Blvd. to New York Street. Ward 2, Alderman Garza
body
PURPOSE:
To determine the appropriateness of removing the five parking spaces on the western side of Union between Galena Blvd and New York Street.
BACKGROUND:
A concerned resident submitted ACR Case ID 80893 expressing concern about congestion on Union between New York and Galena. The resident believes that eliminating the five parking spaces would ease traffic congestion on Union.
DISCUSSION:
Union has a 34-feet width, adequate for two 12-foot lanes and the 7.5-foot wide parking spaces with space left over. While staff does not support the removal of the parking spaces at this time, the ongoing two way street conversions may deem the removal necessary in the near future. Parking is scarce for the business located on the west side of Union in this area these five stalls provide parking for the customers.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
No impact at this time
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends denial at this time
