Requesting permission to stage the City of Aurora's annual Memorial Day Parade to be held Monday, May 29, 2017 stepping off at 12:00 pm.

PURPOSE:
This patriotic holiday commemorates the men and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
BACKGROUND:
The parade is coordinated through the Special Events division. The pre-parade program will take place at the reviewing stand location in front of the DLP Art & History Center at 11:15 am with the parade stepping off at 12:00 pm from Benton and River.
DISCUSSION:
Expenditures for this event have been appropriated in account number 101-1341-450.53-21.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Assistance from the following City departments is requested: Police, Streets, MVPS, Electrical, Downtown Maintenance, Property Standards, Water and Sewer and Public Information. This is to facilitate street closings, site set-up and tear-down and provide for public safety.
A detailed City services request will go out to all of the divisions listed above and is included as an attachment.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
I request the proposed event be forwarded to the Government Operations Committee for review and approval.
