TO: Mayor Richard C. Irvin

FROM: Joseph Hopp, Superintendent of Maintenance Services

DATE: March 14, 2018

SUBJECT:
Request to approve the purchase of a replacement vehicle for unit 33-812 from Currie Motors - 9423 W. Lincoln Hwy., Frankfort, IL for $30,973.00.

PURPOSE:
To maintain the Fire Department fleet.

BACKGROUND:
Unit 33-812 is a 2007 Ford Expedition XLT that was involved in an accident. This vehicle was inspected by a local auto body repair company. The vehicle is a total loss since the repairs would cost more than the value of the vehicle.

DISCUSSION:
This accident did not involve another vehicle.

The City's Property Claims Account 601-0000-410-4075 has available funds to cover the purchase of a replacement vehicle. Note that the Fire Department has determined that this vehicle can be downsized to a Ford Explorer.

Currie Motors is the approved dealer on the Suburban Purchasing Cooperative for the 2018 Ford Utility Police Interceptor.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
No impact to other departments.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
I recommend that the City Council approves a resolution to purchase a replacement 2018 Ford Utility Police Interceptor from Currie Motors - 9423 W. Lincoln Hwy., Frankfort, IL in the amount of $30,973.00.
