PURPOSE:
To seek Government Operations approval to stage and present a street dedication for "Keystone Way." The dedication would take place on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 12:00 p.m.

BACKGROUND:
Keystone Lodge #15 is firmly rooted within the African American Community of Aurora. Since its beginnings over 140 years ago, its brothers are still displaying the charitable values of which it was formed upon. The founding members of Keystone were well-known tradesmen and business owners of the day. The brothers of Keystone have been located at 1112 Kane Street for almost 60 years in a building that was paid for and erected by its members. They stand firmly on their charitable programs: reading for rides, school supply giveaways, book bag giveaways, holiday turkey and ham giveaways, scholarships and more.

The honorary street name will be "Keystone Way."

The location of the street dedication would be on the 1100 block of Kane Street between Trask and Loucks. A street closure will be necessary to assure a safe environment. Expected attendance is approximately 100 to 150 guests.

DISCUSSION:
Requesting the approval of a street dedication to raise community awareness and education of the long standing Keystone Lodge. This event will be funded from the Special Event 2013 budget from account number 101-1320-450.50-69.
