SUBJECT:
A Resolution appointing Nestor Garcia as the School District 131 representative to the Aurora Planning Commission.

DISCUSSION:
The Aurora Planning Commission is a thirteen (13) member commission comprised of At-Large Citizens and representatives of the following entities: Fox Valley Park District, Aurora Township, School Districts 129, 131 and 204 and the Sanitary District.

School District 131 is in need of a new representative and the district has nominated Nestor Garcia.

RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council approve the appointment of Nestor Garcia to the Aurora Planning Commission.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and

WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and

WHEREAS, School District 131 was in need of a new representative on the Aurora Planning Commission; and

WHEREAS, it is the Mayor's desire that the recommended candidate be appointed to said commission.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, hereby approve the appointment of Nestor Garcia as the School District 131 representative to the Aurora Planning Commission.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the term of Nestor Garcia shall expire December 31, 2016, however, in any event, he shall continue to serve until his respective replacement have been approve...
